Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has denied reports that he has a clause written into his contract that allows him to leave Ewood Park to take up the England job.

Hughes signed his new long-term contract extension with Rovers last week to show his commitment to the club, but this didn’t stop reports that Hughes could still be interested in succeeding Steve McClaren as the new England coach, in fact the reports were that Hughes had a release clause written into his contract that would allow him to take over England. Sparky has admitted that a return to International football is something he would one day like, but this will not be for well over a decade.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website “There is no such clause – I have no idea where this has come from.

“I said before and after the Fulham match that in maybe ten, fifteen years I’d possible look at international management again.

“But I’m certainly not looking at an international job at the moment, I’m happy with the job I’ve got
.”

Anyone who thought that Sparky’s signing of a new contract would end speculation about his future was sadly mistaken.
