Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has said that the defeat at the hands of Aston Villa must quickly be put out of people’s minds and he is looking for a response against Newcastle.
Hughes had been quick to point out that the 4-0 scoreline was not a true reflection of the match (and even Villa manager Martin O’Neill agreed) but he is now looking for a response against Newcastle at Ewood Park on Saturday, and he feels that the players will be determined to deliver this.
Hughes said: “Everybody has got to move on and I feel there is a real determination amongst the players to get this result out of their system.
“Even in patches of the game you could see that we are a good side and we have got the opportunity to put things right at the weekend.
“It was one of those nights where you just have to draw a line under it and move on. We know Villa weren’t four goals better than us and so do they.”
The sign of a good side (which Rovers are!) is how you respond to things like this, and despite a heavy defeat at home Rovers shouldn’t feel any differently about their ambitions for this season.
