Hughes: Rovers Hard Done By

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes feels that Rovers were very unfortunate to have lost 4-0 at Ewood Park against Aston Villa on Wednesday Evening.

Everything that Villa touched seemed to turn into a goal (seven out of seven attempts on target and four goals proves this) but Benni McCarthy’s goal, which was ruled out for offside (wrongly so) could have seen things much different, however, Hughes is convinced that there were not four goals difference between the two teams and felt that the referees decision to send off Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen when awarding a penalty proved the real turning point.

Hughes said: “We have been beaten 4-0 but no way was there four goals between the teams.

“For the first 30 minutes we were totally in control of the game.

“The turning point was the penalty. It was a penalty but why the referee sent him off, you’ll have to ask him that
.”

Villa made the most of their chances, but even so for them to have won 4-0 gives the scoreline quite a flattering feel doesn’t it?!?!
