Not for the first time Blackburn Rovers manager has sung Roque Santa Cruz’s praises, after the striker played a pivotal role in Rovers’ victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The Paraguayan International has now scored five goal in nine matches since his bargain transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer, with his fifth coming with what proved to be the winner in our 2-1 win over Roy Keane’s Sunderland on Saturday, having also created the opening goal for David Bentley.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “He’s a good player, he’s got exceptional talent and he’s quick. I think he takes people unawares on occasions as they don’t realise how quick for a big guy he actually is.

“He works exceptionally hard for the team as well, he’s really appreciated and respected by his team-mates for what his does to the team.

“He’s a great player and a good guy as well and he scores goals
.”

Sparky hasn’t been backwards in coming forwards with praise for Santa Cruz, and personally I can’t blame him as I think he has been superb since he arrived, for a REAL bargain price (again!) as well!!!
