Hughes Takes The Point

Blackburn Rovers extended their unbeaten run to seven Premier League matches after the 0-0 draw with Everton at Ewood Park on Saturday, a result which pleased Mark Hughes.

We were a touch fortunate, with Everton going close and having a goal controversially ruled out for offside but in the end either side could have won it but avoiding defeat against a European rival was most important, and this draw left Hughes pleased.

Hughes told Radio Rovers: “I thought it was a decent Premier League game.

“It was nip and tuck with two sides striving for the same prize and I think that showed.

“Certainly in the second half I think we were a lot better, in the first half it was a little bit stop-start, there wasn’t a great deal of momentum, but in the second half we drove the game and I thought at some point that something would happen for us and that we’d get the goal.

“I think if we’d have scored then I think we would have won the game but it wasn’t to be, but it was a decent performance I felt, certainly in the second half.
