Hughes: Todd is Still in My Plans

Despite the “things have gone stale” claim made by Andy Todd’s agent Peter Harrison to Harry Redknapp during the Panorama Investigation Mark Hughes insists Todd still has a future with Blackburn Rovers.

Todd is no stranger to controversy, a training ground incident whilst at Bolton Wanderers which would see him allegedly break the nose of the then Bolton assistant manager Phil Brown would see him unceremoniously booted out… another career would eventually end at Charlton Athletic following another disagreement on the training pitch, and a fight with goalkeeper Dean Kiely.

The alleged Todd comments would have angered Hughes but he says “he is still in my plans,” so for the time being the 32-year-old former captain still has a glimmer of hope of a future at Ewood Park, although, and maybe somewhat conveniently in some peoples eyes, he probably won`t feature this week as he’s picked up a leg injury in training…

With Harrison and Redknapp facing investigations from the Football Association following the Panorama programme (although I feel as a result purely of their conversation I can’t see that Redknapp actually did that much wrong, he only answered Harrison’s probing question) Chairman John Williams would have this to say in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph:

Regarding the Andy Todd situation, we’ve discussed it at a board meeting and we will now wait and see if we are contacted by The FA or the Premier League, who are now conducting their own inquiries.

If the relevant authorities believe there has been a breach of the rules, then I’m sure they will get in touch.

But we don’t want to say any more that might prejudice any investigation.”
