Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has spoken of his frustration at Saturday’s Ewood Park defeat against Sunderland, but feels it is time for the club to stand up and be counted.

The defeat saw Rovers slip into the Premier League relegation zone, and now Ince wants to see his players fight back after a disappointing performance against Sunderland, and a performance that he felt let him down.

Ince told Sky Sports: “They have to realise they are in a dogfight and need to have that survival instinct about them.

“The disappointing thing is we capitulated when it went to 1-1. We did not have any leaders or characters to get us back together.

“It can’t always come from the staff and the management, it has got to come from them. They are the ones out there.

Everyone at the club needs to stand up and be counted, players, coaching staff, chairman and the fans. The spirit (that is always said to have been good) needs to shine through now and results gained. Getting players back from injury will help but feeling self-pity at these injuries and moping around casting stones, blaming people and feeling sorry for ourselves isn’t going to make things better is it!!!
