International Wrap

Starting of the International round up is the game where most of the interest was, China V Australia….jokes jokes, England v France. In what some might seem as more of a fairy tale rather then a decision made on form, David Beckham was selected infront of our boy Bentley. Beckham didnt let anyone down though, and when Bents came on, he performed fairly well. However a penalty decision against England cost them, going down 1-0 in Fabio Capellos first loss as manager.

In the second International Friendly of Interest, Benni McCarthy’s and Aaron Mokoenas South Africa lined up against Roque Santa Cruz’s Paraguay. Benni McCarthy became South Africas top scorer, netting his 30th goal for his country in there 3-0 Victory. Aaron Mokoena became the countries most capped player with 74 appearances, however it was a slight knock to Roque which forced him of the field after 25 minutes which could have us worried. However he has been cleared and should be fit for this weekends clash.

In the World CUp qualifiers, Jason Roberts continued his fine form, netting twice as Grenada demolished the US Virgin Islands 10-0. Andre Ooijers Netherlands were as fortunate, defeating Austria 4-3, whilst Gamst Pedersons Norway had a dissapointing 3-0 loss to Montenegro.

A depleted Australian line up, missing key stars Brett Emerton, Harry Kewell, Viduka, McDonald etc, managed a 0-0 away draw to China.
