Is David Now Dunn??

Would it be right to say that David Dunn is a Blackburn Rovers Legend?? A term used all too often nowadays that it can sometimes lose it’s true meaning can’t it!!

I’m sure that once the midfielder’s career finally does come to an end (which could still be from now) in the cold light of day when you look back over his career as a footballer, spent mainly with Rovers at Ewood Park, he would fall into such a category in the Blackburn history books wouldn’t he??

For a player of his immense talent I still look back and think how sad it is that he only ever won a solitary England International cap during his career, however, the so called “Golden Generation” of England players coupled with the well documented injury problems that have hounded him during his career saw to this as the case.

To be a “one cap wonder” as some would call him is better to have won no caps at all though!!

Dunn is now officially a Free Agent as his Blackburn contract has expired, it’s also been well documented that he wants to return to Ewood (even if it’s just for one last season), however, as yet no deal has been agreed and talks about this happening seem to have gone very, very quiet??

I don’t use Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter so I don’t know what’s being said on these (perhaps I have missed something??) but at this stage the 34-year-old’s time at Ewood appears to be up, is it up in football in general though??

Last month there were talks about him getting a Player-Coach position, which I think would have been great reward for him as it would not only give us the chance to continue using him as a player but would also give him the chance to make his first steps into coaching with a career after his playing days end with the knowledge and ability he could pass on potential priceless.

Gary Bowyer, just a couple of days ago, said he remained hopeful he’d (along with Markus Olsson) stay.

Dunny will be 35 at the end of this year and with his injury past if he was able to go on much longer past this season I’d personally be surprised, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did yet return for one last season but as things stand David does look “Dunn” with Rovers doesn’t he??
