It seems the vultures are circling again

Plenty of stories in the morning papers that Chelsea, in particular their head scout Frank Arnesen, have been watching Rovers Phil Jones as they step up their interest in what the Mirror describe as ‘the most wanted English youngster in football’.

Phil has gloriously ignored the myth of second season syndrome in this campaign and has even been doing a sterling job in defensive midfield as opposed to his natural centre half slot.

His performances though, have alerted the cash cows and todays rumours are not the first time Jonesy has been the centre of attention.

What has escaped the attention of the gossipers however is that the last time all these rumours started Jones responded by signing a five year deal at Blackburn.

Also missing from the stories is the fact that Phil is a hardcore Blackburn fan from his boyhood days, so his departure would be far from a foregone conclusion if the subject became serious.

Spurs, Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea have now registered an interest in our young boy in the last year… but they are going to have to work hard if they want to get near one of the best English youngsters around.
