Well you were right…the ones that voted in favour of Blackburn Rovers winning the UEFA Cup second leg tie with Salzburg to advance that is, which of course they did!

The 78% of you that voted in favour of Rovers winning the second leg tie (in the “Will Rovers see off Salzburg in UEFA Cup on Thursday?” poll) thus guaranteeing their progress into the group stages without the need of away goals or even penalties were proved dead right.

It has to be said that Rovers looked comfortable for the most part of their 2-0 win over Salzburg at Ewood Park tonight. With a couple of very good goals, one a superb strike from David Bentley. James’ match report will go into more detail on this and the games other issues.

In a totally unrelated story, well not totally unrelated as it is Rovers related Mark Hughes has quashed recent speculation that his assistant Mark Bowen could be set to be installed as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion following Bryan Robson’s sacking:

I’ve spoken to him about it, but its pure speculation. I’ve spoken to him about the situation and it won’t be going any further.”
