It’s mixed feelings for Bowyer

Rovers manager Gary Bowyer was left a disappointed man after Rovers difficult week ended in a drab 0-0 draw at Ewood Park against Huddersfield.

Rovers were in the ascendancy for the majority of the match against the Terriers but managed just one shot on target from their FOURTEEN efforts on goal.

But manager Bowyer had to watch on as the home side were left frustrated by a well organised West Yorkshire outfit, with the clean sheet the sole consolation from a torrid afternoon of toil.

‘I think the reaction that we got from the disappointment against Leicester you saw in the first half,’ Bowyer told the official website.

‘I think in the first half we played some terrific stuff. In the first 15-20 minutes we had them chasing the ball.

‘We are happy that we have got the clean sheet because it is our first of the season. But we would have liked it with a goal at the other end and the three points.

‘I think our performance probably deserved it again. We were just hoping for that little bit of quality.

‘We huffed and puffed in the last third, we dominated the stats and when the opposition change their formation four times in the game it shows you the domination that we’ve had.

The contribution of Jake Kean was flagged up for some praise, after the young keeper had come in for some stick in the opening weeks of the season for some mistakes which proved costly.

‘That said, Jake Kean makes an outstanding save in the first half,’ Bowyer continued.

‘I think it is a measure of how far we have come because people are sat in that dressing room disappointed off the back of a very tough week.

‘We had two tough away trips, the Burnley game emotionally and the Leicester game physically, and I think at the end there were two leggy sides out there showing the affects of a tough week in the championship.

‘They are a young team in there and they are learning all the time, we are happy enough with them but we wanted all three points.’

Rovers next fixture is away to Bournemouth on Saturday.
