Jansen Impressing Ince

Matt Jansen will be given all the time in the world to earn a deal at Blackburn – however by the sounds of things, Ince is very impressed with what he has seen so far.

Jansen walked away from football after a spell at Bolton in 2006 and vowed to retire. The shame was that he was on the cusp of being a top drawer player. However, after a road accident in 2002 he was never the same.

Jansen has been in training with Rovers for the last few weeks and admits himself that he has found the hunger for the game again.

Rovers boss ‘Coach Ince’ is aware money is tight and feels Jansen could be a great piece of business, especially since Rovers are hardly flush with money – like a lot of clubs in these tight financial times.

Ince, speaking to the BBC said, “Matt`s a legend at this club and I know we can`t go round spending £9 million on players,”

“But if a good one like him comes along and you feel he could slot into our first team it might be a good surprise for us.

“When he retired from football it wasn`t because of any injuries, it was because, in his head, he felt it was time to jack it in.

“But now he`s back and wants to play. He`s still fit and he`s still got great feet.

“He`s been out for 18 months but didn`t look out of place training. He`ll get better.”

The dream is moving closer to a reality. If Matt Jansen could somehow hit the big time again, there is nothing I would rather see personally than him wearing the blue and white again.

He is one of our own and should be given the time to prove himself, because as my mum once said to me – you have to look after your own.
