Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers on a three-year contract for an undisclosed amount, understood to be £700,000.

The former England International who scored just the solitary penalty in fifteen appearances (although in fairness he never managed to secure a regular place in the side, with a lot of his appearances coming as a substitute) will be hoping to rediscover his “fox in the box” tag with the Championship side, and should do VERY well with regular football.

Rovers Manager Mark Hughes has admitted that Jeffers was a little unfortunate during his time at Ewood Park but has tipped him for success with Wednesday. He told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:

I feel Franny needs to go somewhere else to start playing football again.

“You could never really predict how it was going to go. He was unlucky in fairness to him, he had a little spell when he was getting near to a place and then he got injured.

“Obviously then Matt Derbyshire came to the fore and he found it very difficult once Jason Roberts came back into consideration.

“So for his own career he needed to move on, he hasn’t really had a settled run in a side for maybe two or three seasons.

“I’m sure he’ll be a great success playing week-in week-out, because he’s a quality player
.”
