Jeffers Returning To Ipswich

Blackburn Rovers forward Francis Jeffers is set to return to Ipswich Town, having made a quicker-than-expected recovery from his latest injury setback.

Only three games into his month-long loan with the Championship side a hamstring injury appeared to have cut short not only his loan, but also possibly the remainder of his 2006-2007 season. However, with Jeffers recovering well and his loan arrangement not due to officially expire until the weekend Ipswich are likely to extend this after he returned to Portman Road to continue his rehabilitation with them.

Jeffers may have only made three appearances, his first coming as a substitute, his second gave him a start and a goal, with his third and final (again a start) seeing him injured but he has made quite an impact on Ipswich boss Jim Magilton, who is keen to have him back:

Much depends on the injury and what Blackburn say but we would love to have Franny here for the rest of the season.”

Jeffers added:

I’m recovering quicker than I expected and have come back to Ipswich for the physio staff to have a look at how things are progressing.

I’m here for the week to continue my rehab and we’ll take it from there.”

It is still unlikely that Jeffers has a future at Ewood Park, most agree on this (even if we do feel for him somewhat) especially with the emergence of our own “Fox in the Box” Matt Derbyshire, but with Rovers still having him under contract should he recover and perform for Ipswich maybe he will still have a way back?
