John Jensen has put pen to paper without hesitation to stay on as Steve Kean’s assistant.

Jensen has been the Rovers boss’ right hand man for about six months now and although overseeing a difficult time at the club has shown qualities which the club felt needed rewarding.

John told Rovers official website – ‘To be asked to stay on means an awful lot to me’

‘Steve told me a few weeks ago that he was keen for me to stay whatever happened, but the situation is clearly much better now we have secured our Premier League status.

‘It is apparent to me that the Premier League is by far and away the best competition in the world and to be able to be part of it at a club as good as this is very exciting.’

Kean himself chipped in with a very glowing reference.

Kean told Rovers.co.uk – ‘John quickly proved to me that he has all the qualities necessary to fulfil the role of assistant manager, not least loyalty and trust’

‘He is a football man and we share the same philosophies. I’m delighted that he has agreed to continue with us and see him playing a big part in our future.’
