Rovers boss Steve Kean has expressed his desperation to keep hold of midfielder Jermaine Jones who as things stand has 3 games left at the club.

JJ was signed by Kean in January on loan from Champions League semi finalists Schalke 04 but was unable to fix a price with his parent club.

However that has not deterred Kean who would be very happy to sign JJ on a longer term contract.

Kean told Sky Sports – ‘We are desperate to keep Jermaine and he wants to stay. Like when Roque was signed we tried to fix a price with Schalke but we couldn’t so we got an agreement until the end of the season’

‘If we can do some big business then hopefully he is going to be a Blackburn Rovers player when we come back.

‘He is only a loan player and might be going back to Schalke but he would have died for the points and was well worthy of man of the match.

‘Jermaine has been in this form for a number of weeks. He has gradually got better. It took him the first couple of weeks to get to grips with the Barclays Premier League but at times it looked as though there were two of them in there.’

More performances like the ones seen at the weekend and at the Emirates a few weeks back and he will be more than welcome to stay longer than May!
