Blackburn boss Owen Coyle said he had players lined up to come to Ewood Park ahead of the transfer deadline. Rovers have left it late to start making these moves but we saw an arrival on Monday with the signing of Sheffield Wednesday’s Lucas Joao confirmed.
Joao has joined Blackburn on loan until the end of the season with his temporary switch from Sheffield Wednesday coming with the option to sign the forward on a permanent basis in the summer.
Angolan-born Joao made his name in Portugal – with him capped twice by them at senior level – and came to England in 2015 when he signed for Sheffield Wednesday from Nacional.
During his time at Hillsborough the 23 year old has scored nine goals in 60 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday but has been limited to just the one goal in 12 outings for Wednesday this season.
The last appearance Joao made for his parent club came in the FA Cup defeat against Middlesbrough in the third round, which means the forward will be cup-tied and misses Blackburn’s fifth round meeting with Manchester United but he could make his debut against Leeds in the Championship tomorrow.
