Junior Hoilett Closes On Mönchengladbach Move

Blackburn Rovers winger David ‘Junior’ Hoilett is closing on a permanent move to German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach, with the move expected to go through imminently.

Mönchengladbach are understood to have beaten off attention from Barclays Premier League teams and clubs throughout Germany and France.

Hoilett is understood to be either close to or maybe even signed a four year contract with the Gladbach who finished 4th in the 2011/12 Bundesliga season.

Hoilett is reported to have already been in Gladbach the past week, checking on possible houses to move into.

He has also reported to have had his medical with club Doctor Heribert Ditzel. and successfully passed it.

Unfortunately for Rovers, with EU regulations for young players being different in mainland Europe, Gladbach will only be due to pay a training fee of 800,000 Euros (less then £500,000 to Blackburn Rovers.

To add more salt to already existing wounds, Gladbach Director Max Eberl da. has recently boasted about the club picking up a bargain, and Hoilett’s valuation being around 8 million euros in the German press.

Hoilett had previously spent time on loan in Germany at Paderborn and St. Pauli before signing a contract with Rovers under the reign of Sam Allardyce back in 2009.

Hoilett will join his brother Jaineil Hoilett (20) in Germany, who plays for Mainz 05 II in the Regionalliga West.



Blackburn Rovers fans and (hopefully) her owners will certainly be asking further questions of beleagured manager Steve Kean, after he earlier in the season boasted on multiple occasions that Hoilett was only 24 hours away from signing a new contract.

It was also reported 2 weeks previously that one of the reasons Kean was holding onto his role as manager, was that he had given club owners Venkys assurances that the only chance Rovers had of keeping hold of Hoilett, and getting him to sign a new contract, would be if he remained as manager to conduct negotiations.

This being regardless of representatives of Hoilett repeatidly telling media outlets (most notably) the Lancashire Evening Telegraph that Hoilett would not remain at Rovers if the club were relegated to the Football League Championship.

With Hoilett departing the club, in the worst possible fasion, financially and during a time when players of his callibre are needed for Rovers to press for a return to the Barclays Premier League after relegation. Surely the time has come for Kean to face the firing squad.
