Junior Hoilett is aiming to get in the groove and hit the Rovers first team sooner rather than later.

Whilst enjoying working under Allardyce, Junior knows that the way forward and to progress into the first team on a regular basis is to excel in games like the Carling Cup tie at Nottingham Forest tonight.

He has also taken some time to explain how Allardyce helps his players out.

Junior, speaking to the clubs official website said – ‘The manager believes in the players, gives us confidence and wants to improve us’.

‘He brings me in and shows me video clips of what I’ve been doing well and what I need to improve on.

‘Hopefully this season I will get as many games as possible. I just want to keep improving and developing as a player.

‘The staff and players have given me confidence and I’ve been working hard to get more goals.

‘My goal is to play from the start. When you come on as a substitute you have to work harder and just do your best.

‘But if I can get games in the Carling Cup, learn, get more experience I can impress the manager and try to get a start in the Premier League.’

Hoilett, who was one of the few bright sparks in the second half against Everton, also believe that the best way to get over Sunday is to do the job tonight against Forest in the cup.

‘Everyone has their heads down after the Everton defeat but we have to get ready for the Forest game and bounce back,’ he continued.

‘It was a shocking performance. The coaching staff have made us watch the video and pointed out our mistakes.

‘I expect a tough game. They will be ready for us so we have to keep focused and give it 100%.

‘Away from home we have to go and get the basics right and work hard as a unit.’
