Earlier in the week Jordan Rhodes received an international recall by Scotland, which is something that he hadn’t managed in a while.

His oversight often leaves people quite mystified really that a goalscorer of his ability isn’t selected by his country, it does seem odd as Scotland must be crying out for a goalscorer of his pedigree?

Before the Brentford game, which defeat in realistically ended any lingering play-offs hopes, Rhodes had bagged himself 16-goals this season and that included seven-goals in his previous eight-matches – he of course drew a blank in our three-two win.

Gary Bowyer had told the Official Website that his hard work and effort brought this recall. He was also left ‘delighted for him’ as he doesn’t feel the goals come easy for him, he’s got to work for them.

‘I’m delighted for him, he is in a rich vein of form. His goals on Saturday were two fantastic finishes and he can go and get himself up the road after two more games for us.

‘He gets himself in those positions and does what he does best there. It is no secret, he keeps working hard on his finishing. Everybody knows what he is capable of.’

He’s one of the best goalscorers in the game and rightfully belongs on the international stage.
