Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic claims that the Austrian football camp that the Rovers players have been training in for the last week has been really tough but is ideal for preparing for the new season which starts a month tomorrow.

Kalinic has explained that the borderline ridiculous heat made life ‘hard’ but that Rovers will feel the knock on benefits that come with strict training.

Niko spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said – “It was eight days of hard work. We had three sessions a day and of course we are all feeling tired by the end.

“We started each day with a running session at 7.30am, then we had a football session at 11.30am and then we had an afternoon session as well.

“It was hard work every day, especially in the heat, but we all enjoyed it and will feel the advantage of it by the start of the season. I am already feeling in good shape.

“I am already looking forward to the start of the season now, I think we all are. We know that by working hard now we will be ready for the season and that is what is most important.”

Kalinic is stressing to fans that not a lot should be read into the result of match (and rightly so) and claimed that the searing heat and the fact it was Rovers first match produced a fairly dour affair.

But Kali is looking forward to his second season in England and know that he and Jason Roberts are ready to roll.

Kalinic continued – “It was too hot, this was after the week of hard work as well. So that is why it was 0-0.

“We play some games in England and then we go to Australia. Some of the players who played in the World Cup have not met up with us again yet but they will soon.

“I am not expecting anything going into the season. All I expect is I will work hard and try to take my chances when I get them.

“I don`t know anything about new players, but I do know me and Jason Roberts are still at the club and are looking forward to the new season.”

Go get em tiger!
