Rovers forward Colin Kazim-Richards may have landed himself in hot water after local police received a number of complaints about the Turkish international, who was rumoured to have made a homophobic gesture to home fans at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night.

Rovers battled to a tough 1-1 draw with Brighton but after the game a regional newspaper and fans in attendance at the game were quick to register their outrage at loanee Kazim, who they say made a homophobic gesture towards the home fans on five separate occassions.

Since then the matter has escalated to the police and to an official complaint which will be looked into.

Sussex Police football liaison officer PC Darren Balkham has released a short statement after he received a handful of complaints from local supporters about the alleged incident.

He stated – “We will be investigating this fully and will be taking statements and looking through camera footage.

“Whether you are on the pitch or in the stands, Sussex Police takes any allegations of homophobic language or gestures seriously.”
