Kean asks for small protest

Rovers manager Steve Kean has expressed his desire for a small protest on Saturday, despite the growing revolt amongst fans about the Venky’s and Kean regime.

A community march is planned prior to Rovers home game with Norwich this Saturday aimed at displaying displeasure with the owners, manager and board of directors.

Kean however has decided to focus on the task in hand and has appealed to the Rovers fans to do the same.

Steve Kean told Sky Sports – ‘I hope that the protest is small. The fans inside the ground of late have been excellent and the travelling fans have been very good.

‘We have a young team that has certainly performed better when the atmosphere has been hostile towards the opposition and I am hopeful that they will continue to support us.

‘We have a focus and that is on breaking the sequence that we are in, making sure we can get a good start in the game and I am very confident that we can get a result this week.

‘If you can go to Anfield and draw, and go to Old Trafford and win, there is no reason why we can’t beat Norwich and Wigan at home and take something from the games away at Spurs and away at Chelsea.

‘If you can go to tough away grounds and dig something out, and win our home games I think that will be enough to keep us in the division.’

‘At times it has been tough but I have the beauty of being able to go back on the training ground, like I did first thing this morning.

‘If we don’t get a result at the weekend, we go back and work with the players again and get prepared for another massive game.

‘The players have been fantastic and there have been lots of games where we should have got a bit more from those games.

‘But it has been a massive transition period for the club. There are new owners, I am a new manager at the club, we have a lot of new young players in the team, so there have been big changes at the club.

‘We feel that when we come through it, like we did last season, we will be better for it.’

Kean was then asked about his future beyond the end of this season to which his unlikely to be well received answer was – ‘I have a contract that runs beyond this season. ‘Let’s get this season taken care of, make sure that we are in the division and I’m hopeful we can move things on.’
