Kean calls for defensive improvement

With Rovers top of the league, unbeaten and in god spirits you would imagine there wouldn’t be a lot to complain about – but clearly you would be wrong.

Not wrong in a let’s just moan about things because that’s what we do nowadays, more a pressing concern that has existed for a while.

Despite plundering five goals at the weekend, Rovers still managed to concede three… For the second game running. It’s a problem and against sides with better quality defensive organisation than Bristol City displayed at the weekend we’ll be letting points slip.

In fact it’s a problem that has dogged a Steve Kean side ever since he rolled up to Rovers claiming to have not stabbed Sam Allardyce in the back.

And despite his infuriating ability to ignore things that might be construed as ‘negative’ Cheery Steve has accepted it is something that needs working on.

Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph – “We know we have to improve defensively because we have conceded six goals away from home in the last two games. We will be analysing that on Monday.

“Tonight though we should look at us scoring some good goals against an excellent Bristol City side and going top of the league.

“It was hard work but not many teams will come to Bristol City and take points off them.”
