After the heartbreaking defeat to Manchester City on Monday night Steve Kean reflected upon the game as a chance missed.

The players gave their all in the 1-0 defeat but missed out due to a lack of cutting edge… but not lack of desire.

The Rovers boss felt the players were hard done after a great effort but once again the wrong result to go alongside it.

Kean told the Sky Sports crew – ‘I feel very hard done by. I don’t like to moan about referees but we feel their goal was offside with [Mario] Balotelli standing in front of Paul Robinson.

‘We felt we had a good shout for a penalty for a bump on Niko (Kalinic) but he probably made it hard for the referee by staying on his feet.

‘Full credit to the lads, none of them have anything left. If we continue to approach the games like that we will put points on the table.’

It’s a very rare occasion but he’s pretty much hit the nail on the head.
