Image for Kean reinforces clear conscience

Rovers boss Steve Kean has insisted that Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t blame him for the disposition of his friend Sam Allardyce at Ewood Park.

Allardyce left Rovers in shall we say, controversial circumstances in November and was immediately replaced by his third in command Steve Kean.

This lead to accusations of back stabbing from the press and from fans a like but Kean insists this all pretty much a load of balls and claims he enjoys a settled relationship with tomorrow’s opposite number.

Kean told the Daily Mail – ‘I didn’t need any assurances from Sir Alex that the things he said at the time were not aimed at me, I knew it wasn’t personal and that it was simply a case of him backing Sam, which I respect and understand.

‘He never said anything negative or derogatory about me, and the fact is, we get on really well. Seeing a friend lose his job comes as a shock, and Sir Alex is going to back his friend.

‘I’ve no problem with that or with Sir Alex. I’ve known him many years. We’re from a similar area in Glasgow and have met up numerous times in the past in 10 years.

‘I saw him last night, when our Reserves played United’s at Old Trafford, and he complimented us on how our young lads played. There’s always that dignity and communication with staff, and it will be nice to see him after the game on Saturday and share a glass of wine.’
