Steve Kean has made the fans a promise he’ll have to keep after setting himself a target of at least 3 new faces by the start of the campaign opener at home to Wolves – which is less than 2 weeks away.

Rovers got off to a slow start in the transfer window but have got their act together in recent weeks by bidding like crazy for top European talent.

With the scenes of chaos across Ewood it is hard to know what is going on at times but Kean has clarified that whilst youth will play a part this season the pressure is on to bring in the big names.

Kean is reported on goal.com – ‘We lost Phil Jones and Nikola Kalinic, who didn`t feature as much in the latter half of the season anyway. Fortunately we are blessed with a brilliant academy and have several youngsters like Adam Henley, [Myles] Anderson, and Zac Aley coming through.

‘From other clubs, we can`t mention names as these players belong to other clubs but we shall sign at least three players before the season begins. We have some good targets and if we acquire them, then a top 10 place is a very realistic aim for this season.’

‘The reason for us not signing any players till now is because they are very good players and so it becomes very complicated as their parent club tries to resist any deal’

‘The club owners have given me a good budget in this transfer window and we have made several bids but completing any deal is a complicated process. We can`t name players since if we don`t manage to sign them then it would disappoint the supporters.’

The first two of these signings will be David Goodwillie of Dundee United and Radosav Petrovic of Partizan Belgrade.

Petrovic’s work permit is expected back tomorrow and Goodwillie himself is putting pen to paper tomorrow after all but becoming a Rovers player this afternoon after the completion of a medical.

For those fearing he may stop by Glasgow on his way back to Dundee tonight here is a little reassurance – He has been spotted on Sky Sports News signing Rovers shirts for fans this evening.
