Rovers manager Steve Kean has told Venky’s to give him some backing in the transfer market… and that might even mean paying over the odds to get bodies into the club.

The boys battled the odds a bit yesterday against Wolves with midfielder Steve N’Zonzi and youngster Grant Hanley being a chuckle brothers like centre back pairing with the THREE first choice players out injured.

And don’t look now, but Kean has got tough and asked for reinforcements.

Kean told Sky Sports – ‘We are making realistic bids and they are not coming off. Maybe we will have to pay over the odds to ensure that we get people here.

‘We have to speed up the process because I don’t think we can go another couple of games having to play central midfielders at centre-half. We certainly need bodies.

‘We’ve got 11 players who were on the books in one form or another that have left the club since last season and we’ve brought three in. We need to make sure we get a good number of players coming back in and make sure we have a competitive squad.’

  • To be fair it’s quite ballsy considering they hired him.

He’s not gonna sit back and watch them flush his career away.

    Fair doo’s…

  • To be fair I was gonna say the same thing! You gotta take your hat off to him! He’s obviously gettin peed off with venkys bargain hunting!! Only problem is…if you were one of the clubs with a “bid” on the table what would you do when you’d seen keans interview?..answer: reject our bid an ask for more money cos were obviously desperate!!

  • Agreed with that mani13963 however he obviously feels the need to get his point accross to the owners so maybe the behind closed doors approach didnt work so now kean has resulted to this

  • I am not a blackburn fan but I would hate to see your owners doing a “west ham” this year. west ham had a good squad but poor management. right now blackburn have a fringe squad and questionable management (probably delusional owners too). Wish you all the luck this season, hope you survive and make the most of it

  • Too little too late really, he is just protecting himself from the blame of the defeat. If he was so concerned about 11 out and 3 in this should have been said to Venky’s 2-3 months ago to be fair. I’ve been all for giving Kean a chance so far and still think he deserves a go but he has to take part responsibility for this loss because he’s had enough time to replace PJ and the BIG striker signing should’ve been done weeks ago too.

  • Not sure what to make of this. Can’t say it’s inspiring any confidence though. Why can’t they all just get their act together and get something sorted?

  • Why didn’t he say this 2 months ago when the likes of Roger Johnson – who had a good game for Wolves yesterday btw – were still available??

  • We won’t go down! due to the fact QPR, Swansea, Wigan and Norwich are poorer than us!…….. but we need to make some signings quickly…I hope we sign 4 or 5 more players and if we get some quality players in then maybe we can think about a top 10 finish but with the squad we have now there is no chance of top 10!

Dream signings – Scott Dann, Keisuke Honda, Pa***** Cisse or Welliton from Spartak Moscow.

I do think when Samba and Nelsen are fit though we will be fine and I can’t wait to see Petrovic and N’zonzi in the centre of Midfield together.

  • Its about time he stood up to be counted, He needs to be given the tools to succeed and the blame lies at Venkys door
