Rovers manager Steve Kean has told Venky’s to give him some backing in the transfer market… and that might even mean paying over the odds to get bodies into the club.

The boys battled the odds a bit yesterday against Wolves with midfielder Steve N’Zonzi and youngster Grant Hanley being a chuckle brothers like centre back pairing with the THREE first choice players out injured.

And don’t look now, but Kean has got tough and asked for reinforcements.

Kean told Sky Sports – ‘We are making realistic bids and they are not coming off. Maybe we will have to pay over the odds to ensure that we get people here.

‘We have to speed up the process because I don’t think we can go another couple of games having to play central midfielders at centre-half. We certainly need bodies.

‘We’ve got 11 players who were on the books in one form or another that have left the club since last season and we’ve brought three in. We need to make sure we get a good number of players coming back in and make sure we have a competitive squad.’
