Steve Kean has planted the seed of doubt in the mind of Avram Grant ahead of the crunch clash in East London tomorrow.

Scott Parker is touch and go for the match and Kean has used Junior Hoilett as an example of playing a talisman too soon after Hoilett was not risked in the last few games due to the risk of further injury.

Kean believes playing Parker when not a 100% can have a negative effect on the West Ham side, whether Hammers boss Grant is listening or not is in doubt however as he may have relocated to a nearby massage parlour/brothel for his midweek treat.

Kean told Sky Sports – ‘It depends how fit he is. Sometimes if a player is not 100% fit and all of a sudden has to go off that can have a psychological effect on the rest of the team’

‘That was one of the factors we felt about Junior Hoilett over the last few games. If he starts and he’s not quite right and you have to take him off after 10 minutes then people can say ‘oh no, the potential talisman is not on the pitch’.’

The Rovers boss has played fears about the importance of the game and has insisted that Rovers go into the game full of beans due to the current performances of the Rovers side.

Kean added – ‘We do not fear these games – we are looking forward to going and getting points because we are playing well’

‘I think it will be an open game, I think they will come and try and score in the first 15 minutes and will try and get at us. I don’t expect them to be cagey but to try to get the ball up front and try to get the crowd on their side.’
