Blackburn Rovers youngster Mamadi Keita has left Ewood Park to sign for German club Hamburg.

The African born youngster was raised in Germany and came over to sign for the Academy side from the Bundesliga, so after impressing Hamburg during a short trial earlier in the month the 18-year-old has gone back to Germany. Keita came to Rovers with a HUGE reputation but suffered a bad injury early in his time with the club, and although he signed a professional contract with Rovers last year he hasn’t been able to make the step-up to the first team and signed for an undisclosed amount on the two-and-a-half year contract on Thursday.

Hamburg’s Director of Sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer said: “Mamadi is a former Germany youth international who will firstly be integrated with our reserve team.

“At the same time, he will be a potential first-team player too
.”

Meanwhile Rovers also allowed another youngster, Rostyn Griffiths to go out on loan to Scottish Premier League strugglers Gretna.

19-year-old midfielder Griffiths has been a part of the Rovers reserve squad, but as yet the Australian Youth International is showing no signs of breaking through into the first team squad.
