Former Rovers boss Howard Kendall has fired a quick warning across the bow to Rovers owners Venky about their potential interference over transfer policy.

Plenty of rumours have been rife in the last few days that the Rao’s are likely to consult close friends Kentaro over who to bring in to their new club in January.

But Kendall, using his days at Everton as an example has warned them the current boss may not hang around long like he did when he left over transfer interference.

“It is important and I walked out over it,” Howard Kendall told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“As a manager I decided who I wanted to keep and who I wanted to go.

“But I had a situation at Everton when I tried to sign Dion Dublin from Manchester United. The deal was agreed and I knew we had the money to do it.

“But the chairman phoned me and said he didn`t like the deal. I didn`t expect that and I resigned over it.

“Dion would have made such a difference to us, like Andy Gray did previously, and he went on to have a great career.

“But one thing Everton never did was bring a new player into the dressing room who I knew nothing about, and that would have been even worse.

“It is your job at stake as a manager, and it affects your standing with the players and your influence in the dressing room.

“The players would be aware that you don`t have the final say, and you would lose a bit of respect.”

Well said Howard.
