With a few days left remaining of the transfer window and with very little of the pre window investment assurances looking like being fulfilled (again) the following release has been issued to explain the newly formed BRFC Action Group’s stance…

Blackburn Rovers Supporters planned transfer deadline protest – 31st January 2012

The BRFC Action group will be holding a static protest against Venky`s at both Ewood Park and at the Brockhall training village on Tuesday 31st January, starting at 9am, with the message ‘Venky`s – sell the club`.

Blackburn Rovers Supporters Protest March – Wednesday 1st February 2012

The BRFC Action Group will hold a protest march from the Brown Cow public house to Ewood Park at 19.15, prior to the Newcastle Fixture. This march will be solely aimed at Venky`s – ‘Sell up and ship out, you are killing our club`.

Blackburn Rovers open supporters meeting – Thursday 2nd February 2012.

An open supporters meeting has been called for ALL Blackburn Rovers supporters to be held at the Manxman public house in Blackburn at 19.45 on Thursday 2nd February. All supporter clubs and groups – including the websites – have been invited, alongside local MP`S and the club sponsor, WEC. The purpose of this meeting is for supporters to not only put across concerns but for an action plan to be developed as supporters look at ways to move things forward in the best long term interest of the club.

The protest organisers commented – “We, as a group of supporters, have given Venky`s every reasonable opportunity to engage with the club`s supporters. Unfortunately, and despite our best efforts, the owners have refused these approaches and instead have continued to show negligence towards the club, the town, and the fan base.

Our club, just 14 months ago, was considered a role model, a club which other clubs aspired to be like. Now it is just a shadow of its former self. Venky`s have broken nearly every promise they put forward when purchasing the club. They have plunged the club deeper into debt and they have ripped the heart out of it, showing no remorse or understanding for the damage they have brought upon our famous club. Many supporters have resigned themselves to the fact that this once great club will never prosper under the ownership of Venky`s.

Supporters want Venky`s to go now, before the damage becomes irreparable.

There is no way back and there is no statement that Venky`s could make that could take away the pain that supporters have endured since Venky`s took over ownership of Blackburn Rovers in November 2010.

For months all supporters have wanted is transparency and the hope that they could wake up from this nightmare. That hope has all but evaporated as supporter groups are now seeking alternative options to Venky`s. These protests will continue as supporters and stakeholders try and protect what is left of the late Jack Walker`s legacy and the town`s heritage, which has been simultaneously abused by the inadequacies of Venky`s ownership.” (Glen Mullan & Simon Littler BRFC Action Group)
