Congratulations to Lucas Neill who made his 300th League start in English football when starting for Blackburn Rovers against Fulham on Saturday.

It was start number 176 for Rovers, having featured from the start in 124 matches for previous club Millwall between 1995 and 2001.

Neill has always given his all for Rovers in the games he has started, and in those he’s come on for that matter but with it possible a move to the continent may be in the offering it is possible will we soon be seeing the end of Neill in English football all together? So will there be many more starts in the English game for Neill with Rovers or anyone else?

The Australian International is on his way out of Ewood Park this isn’t in doubt, the doubt is surrounding who to and when? Barcelona have been sniffing around since the summer also allegedly being joined by a host of fellow Spanish clubs with AC Milan often getting a mention as well.

Liverpool have been constantly heavily linked with him, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and also Aston Villa also reportedly keen, but with Chelsea rumoured to have also entered the race and said to be willing to pay as much as £3 million for the Aussie a likely destination could be London as Chelsea will be able to out pay Liverpool so his “love” for Liverpool could soon die! Money talks so the cynical among us may feel that those around him (I think you know who I mean!) could point this out to him?

As a side issue maybe despite the fact he has just signed a new contract at Chelsea and I do think we have cover already in place in the left-back slot Chelsea could loan us Wayne Bridge as part of the deal for the remainder of the season!

Will Neill add many more starts to his 300 so far in English Football? (He added another tonight!) Only time will tell, but one thing that is almost certain is we will find out the answer to this soon enough, most probably in the month of January 2007?
