Blackburn scored three-goals in the final 30-minutes to return from the international break, and prepare for Liverpool in the FA Cup ΒΌ final replay on Wednesday, with a win at Leeds. A three-nil win at Elland Road saw us end a run of back-to-back defeats in the Championship.

The lead almost came our way, against the run of play at the time, when Rhodes saw his effort deflected off Bamba before looping onto the bar. He also went close with a volley as well.

Austin had a good chance for Leeds but he headed over from close range before young Blackburn debutant ‘keeper David Raya saved well from a Byram effort, which deflected off Kilgallon.

Leeds went down to 10-men before the break when captain Austin clashed with Marshall off-the-ball, an arm in Marshall’s direction saw him shown a straight red.

The breakthrough came just past the hour when Gestede’s cross wasn’t cleared with Cairney (62), a former youngster with Leeds before his release, volleyed home to put us one-up and but for the bar Marshall would have swiftly made it two.

The second wasn’t long in coming though with Rhodes (69) heading home Brown’s cross.

Any suggestion that Leeds could get back into game was ended when Bolton loanee Spearing (80) sealed the win, scoring his first for us 10-minutes from time with Rhodes denied a second by the frame of the goal again in injury-time as his curler came back off the post.

It’s safe to say that the sending off played a key part in this but we made that extra man count with our dominance and clinical finishing.
