Blackburn Rovers forward Matt Derbyshire could again be poised for a spell away from Ewood Park this season as Mark Hughes looks to keep the talented youngster in regular first team football.

Local lad Derbyshire, 20, is highly thought of at Rovers, a new contract offered and signed this summer signals the clubs intent for him in the future.

With new arrivals Jason Roberts, Francis Jeffers and Benni McCarthy providing added competition Premiership football seems unlikely this term, so another season out on loan could be just what he, and the club need.

Last season saw loan moves to both Plymouth Argyle, and a highly successful last half of the season temporary period with Wrexham, with whom he scored 10 goals, including a double on debut.

  • Looks as though he’s going to be coming to Luton on a season long loan. MN is using his contacts and Blackburn and is said to rate him, and we could use another striker in our squad.

  • IT’S A CASE OF ROVERS RETURN FOR MN. LUTON WILL BE GETTING A QUALITY PLAYER. IT WILL BENEFIT US AS HE WILL BE GETTING REGULAR FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL AND WILL COME BACK AN EVEN BETTER PLAYER SO A CASE OF EVERYBODY WINS.

  • IN RESPONSE TO TEDDYLYON, LOOKING LIKE THAT, YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHY MARK HUGHES DIDN’T TELL HIM INPERSON THAT HE WAS GOING OUT ON LOAN. NOT EVEN SPARKY IS THAT BRAVE LOL!
