The emergency loan window for NPower Football League clubs closes tonight at 5pm and with it will go the last chance (until January) for clubs to bring in reinforcements to their squad.

For Rovers what appeared to be a fairly quiet end to proceedings could yet turn out to be a bit eventful.

News reaches the footballing community that Rovers are attempting to bring back former Blackburn no.1 Brad Friedel, initially on loan. Something of a surprise.

The club were trying to reach some sort of agreement with Spurs yesterday afternoon/evening but nothing has been forthcoming as yet with Spurs reluctant to let their competition to Hugo Lloris go. But it is expected that Rovers will try again today prior to the deadline with Brad likely to be tempted to move back with the lure of a coaching role included.

Elsewhere, Rovers are just waiting on Venky’s (yes I know) to sign off on the deal to bring in Manchester United youngster Joshua King, which will be with a view to a permanent deal in January. Expect that one to go through in due course.

I’m not quite sure how bringing in a 4th keeper could be considered an ’emergency’ but I don’t think there are many who would turn their noses up at the return of the eight year servant American…
