Here’s the latest press release from Ewood Park (below) on the Season Ticket price freeze launch, which took place on Monday with Rovers stars Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy launching it.

ROVERS STARS UNVEIL SEASON TICKET PRICE FREEZE FOR FANS

Fans flocked to Blackburn town centre to see Rovers star strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy unveil the club`s early bird season ticket offer.

The players unveiled an ice sculpture in the form of £249, the cheapest available adult ticket after Rovers announced a price freeze on season tickets for supporters who buy before the end of April.

The move will mean fans will still be able to benefit from last year’s reduction, which saw the club drastically cut the average cost of a season ticket by a massive 25%.
And the Rovers hitmen urged supporters to take advantage of the offer and turn Ewood Park into a fortress.

Roque said: ‘I think when the fans look at what we are doing, they can be sure also that next season we will try to do even better.

‘It is the nice thing for us to feel that the fans want to be there with and to support us as that is really important for the team.

‘We are in a position now where we come out at Ewood to win every game, so that also creates the expectation amongst the fans and also us, what we need now until the end of the season that every time we play at Ewood it is full and the good atmosphere that we always have.

‘We are playing well at the moment and we hope to achieve the goals that we made at the beginning of the season.’

Benni said: “We want to get the full support from the fans, we want to be able to attract full stadiums and to be able to compete with the likes of United, Arsenal and Liverpool and all those clubs.

‘They are only successful because they get full stadiums every home game and that is what we are striving for.’

The players unveiled the ice sculpture at the Mall shopping centre and signed autographs for fans who had gathered to see their heroes.

Rovers used around £1 million of extra revenue generated by the new television deal to pass on savings to supporters in the form of reduced prices and fans responded with the number of season ticket holders increasing this term by more than 2,500 – a 20% rise!

The decision to cut the cost of watching football at Ewood Park won widespread critical acclaim from fans, the media and even government ministers!

It means the cheapest season ticket will still cost just £249 for the Fraser Eagle stand, while the most expensive season ticket stays at £399.

The cost of a season ticket behind the goal in the Walkersteel Blackburn End will be just £299. The price for juniors will remain at £99. It means a family of two adults and two children will be able to enjoy 19 Premiership matches at around £10 per head per game in the most popular part of the ground.

Rovers plan to introduce a summer tariff for season tickets in May after the Early Bird deadline has passed.
