Tyler Magloire, starting out his playing career at Blackburn, and David Lowe, the experienced coach who is part of the backroom staff, have put pen to paper on new contracts at Rovers.

In fact, in the case of Magloire, this is the first contract signed.

Academy graduate Magloire, who was involved in pre-season last summer, made 14 appearances for the Academy side last season before stepping up to Damien Johnson’s Development Squad, featuring in 17 games in all competitions for the U23 side.

Magloire, 18, has signed a two year contract that will keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2019.

Lowe would have been familiar with the central defender from his previous role as Head of Coaching at academy level, he stepped up to form past of Tony Mowbray’s first team coaching role when appointed in February.

A new long-term contract, the actual length of which wasn’t revealed, has been signed by Lowe to keep him as part of the first team backroom staff.

He told the Official Website: ‘I’m delighted. I’m looking forward to working with the first team and obviously with the manager and Mark Venus.
‘I really enjoyed the experience. The players, the manager and David Dunn were all very good to work with. I hadn’t worked with senior pros for quite a while. It is challenging, because you are under pressure with every game to win a football match, but it was really good.’

Echoing the thoughts of Mowbray and Mark Venus previously, Lowe went on to say as much as a return to the Championship at the first time of asking was the Blackburn aim it isn’t going to be easy for Rovers in League One.

Lowe added: ‘Hopefully we can hit the ground running and get the club back up. That will be our ultimate aim, to win as many football matches and get the club back in the Championship. Don’t get me wrong, it is going to be a tough ask. It is a tough division. There are a lot of decent teams in the division. The fixtures come at you fast and furious, so you have got to be prepared and be on your game for every match and every team you face. It’ll be a tough task, but hopefully with a few more signings throughout the summer we can get the club back towards where it belongs and where we all want to be.’
