Owen Coyle has made his fifth signing since his arrival at Ewood Park with 19-year-old Jack Byrne coming in on loan from Manchester City.

Byrne, who training with the Republic of Ireland ahead of Euro 2016 but didn’t make the final 23-man squad, has come to Blackburn on a season-long loan from Man City having spent last season in the Dutch Eredivisie with SC Cambuur.

Dublin-born Byrne, who has been with the Premier League side since the age of 15, will link up with his countryman (and potentially international teammate next season) Shane Duffy at Ewood next season.

When he does he’ll look to move another step closer to a place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans.

During his time with Camburr the U21 international scored four-goals in his 27-matches played with Coyle quoted by the BBC as saying.

‘He is a wonderful young player who can only get better. At 19 he went to a foreign country and showed he was a top player in that league and now he’s ready to step into the Championship and show his quality.’
