Ben Marshall’s contract with Blackburn is due to expire at the end of the season and as it stands the winger is poised to leave on a free transfer. In fact he could even be sold in January?

According to a report in the Sun this move could take him to Championship rivals Wolves and allow him to link up with his former Rovers boss Paul Lambert at Molineux.

His reported £25,000 a week wage demands could be ‘problematic’ to this deal though.

Owen Coyle has spoken about his desire to tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract but this hasn’t happened – most recently he anticipated a resolution during the November international break but that didn’t go to plan.

However, the Blackburn boss doesn’t feel we can question Marshall’s commitment this season but had hinted at a January exit if a deal wasn’t agreed. Coyle then wanted money generated invested into the squad potentially turning some of the loans into permanent deals.

Contract talks has rumbled on since the summer and the fact Marshall’s not signed a new one makes it increasingly likely he’ll leave Ewood Park doesn’t it? It merely seems a matter of when and not if….
