The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Birmingham City this Saturday.

Blackburn Rovers travel to Birmingham City on Saturday October 1 for the game at St Andrew’s Stadium and the match carries a 3pm kick off.

Referee: James Linington
Linesmen: Mark Russell and Neil Davies
Fourth Official: Michael Salisbury

Match Day referee Linington has officiated seven games in 2016/17 with a return of 35 yellow cards and one red card.

This season he has shown eight yellow cards on two occasions.

He took in 26 matches in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 74 yellow cards and four red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough on October 24 with seven yellow cards shown.

Linington is required to make the short trip over from his home on the Isle of Wight when appointed to EFL fixtures. He is a very experienced official having refereed in the EFL for nine seasons. In 2010, he was named fourth official for the FA Trophy Final at Wembley, and returned to the same stadium two weeks later to referee the League Two Play-Off Final between Dagenham and Redbridge and Rotherham United.
