As if Blackburn Rovers failing to improve on the miserable run of results at Upton Park wasn’t enough we gained another unwanted achievement.

Prior to the 2-1 defeat by West Ham United on Sunday we had not suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premiership in 12 matches! After last weekend saw Rovers go down 1-0 to local rivals Bolton Wanderers, the thirteenth match in this current sequence proved unlucky 13 against West Ham.

So for the first time since April, towards the end of the 2005-2006 season following a 1-0 defeat at Ewood Park against Liverpool on 16th April and then three days later a 2-1 defeat by Birmingham City at St Andrews on 19th April Rovers have suffered back-to-back Premiership defeats.

Better news though, the last time this did happen Rovers then went on to win their next three Premiership matches (the final three of the 2005-2006 season) scoring five goals and failing to concede any! More of the same against Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in our next three Premiership games would be VERY welcome…

  • …. shocking they deserved the win we played “rubbish” they out played us all over the pitch just like rovers vs. bolton we should have won that and maybe the liverpool game but the hammers game they did deserve the win because they played great i think its because they had Etherington on the left and Sherringham the team of last season but yes we didnt play very well at all

  • Congrats to West Ham – what a result!! they managed to beat Rovers reserves by a huge one goal and were outplayed in the second half….

  • Not one of Rovers’ better days it has to be said! You always felt that the Hammers bad run would end in this game though didn’t you!
