Match proves unlucky 13 for Rovers

As if Blackburn Rovers failing to improve on the miserable run of results at Upton Park wasn’t enough we gained another unwanted achievement.

Prior to the 2-1 defeat by West Ham United on Sunday we had not suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premiership in 12 matches! After last weekend saw Rovers go down 1-0 to local rivals Bolton Wanderers, the thirteenth match in this current sequence proved unlucky 13 against West Ham.

So for the first time since April, towards the end of the 2005-2006 season following a 1-0 defeat at Ewood Park against Liverpool on 16th April and then three days later a 2-1 defeat by Birmingham City at St Andrews on 19th April Rovers have suffered back-to-back Premiership defeats.

Better news though, the last time this did happen Rovers then went on to win their next three Premiership matches (the final three of the 2005-2006 season) scoring five goals and failing to concede any! More of the same against Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in our next three Premiership games would be VERY welcome…
