McCarthy Sent For Extra Training

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has moved quickly to quash any suggestion that he has fallen out with Benni McCarthy, with this a thought for him missing the Sunderland match.

With the media as it is, if a star player is left out of a match day squad (let alone the starting line-up) they have automatically fallen out with the manager, something that Hughes has quickly denied saying he was simply left out to work on his own match fitness to carry out some extra work in an attempt to improve his form, which is something Sparky has been disappointed with, and has openly admitted.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “There’s no problem whatsoever. Benni understands the situation and he’ll be back very, very quickly and he’ll have a major part to play this year.

“So there’s no cause for concern.

“We had a chat in the week and I just felt that Benni needed a little bit of one-to-one work, and when he has had that work his levels will be better.

“He is struggling with a little bit of form at the moment, he understands that, so once he’s had the work we are going to put into him he’ll be better for it, and he’ll be able to have the impact he had last year.

“He had a bang early in the season and maybe that has affected him more than we thought
.”

How Benni could react to this was a concern of mine, but with Sparky clarifying the situation then all being well this shouldn’t be a problem and the benefits to both Benni and Rovers could be superb!!! Much like Sparky said maybe the knock that Benni took could have impacted more than it was thought?
