With YOUR help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2008-2009 season.

The nominations are still be taken for other Awards, but the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2008-2009 continue to be dished out with the TUGAY AWARD FOR MIDFIELDER OF THE SEASON.

THE WINNER: Tugay.

When asked to simply leave the name of your Midfielder of the Season most felt Tugay should be the Award Winner, so congratulations to the retiring Maestro!!

An honourable mention goes to Keith Andrews though, who surprised a lot of people and proved some doubters wrong.

This is what people had to say on this category, which can also be viewed by clicking here.

Mikey D said: “Tugay.

Not just because of this season but because he deserves it for every year he has been here. A master in every sense of the word.

retroflair31 said: “Very difficult to choose. Warnock? but he did not spend all year in midfield. My vote goes to Tugay. Proved he is a legend and more than once played 90 quality minutes, even at 38 years of age.

Money4midfield said: “I concur. A year to forget quickly for our midfield this year. Tugay was far-and-away the brightest light in the fog.

BomBom said: “Don’t want to vote Tuggers purely out of emotion but who else really stood out?

I hate to say it but i thought Andrews had a reasonably solid season considering he came from League 2 and we all panned him before he played for us.

Andrews I’m going for, maybe unpopular but he was consistent and gave his all when played, even out of position.

glen9mullan said: “Tugay Tugay Tugay, 38 years young and took the fight on the pitch which many did not appear to have this year.

adrianbrfc said: “Stephen Warnock, left or centre filled in better than anyone else really played in there. Honourable mentions to Tugay, Emerton and Andrews though.

Blue n Whitey said: “I’m going to agree with BomBom! Andrews was an ever present, although he looked out of place against the top four(but the whole of our team did), he has been a bundle of energy buzzing around the park! He’s also scored some crucial goals that could have resulted in us being relegated! so Andrews!

roversman said: “Too shy shy, hush hush eye to eye! Tugay for me. However – and this will pain me – I want to give a mention to bloody Andrews, after all, he was our highest scoring midfielder!

sasman said: “Keith Andrews gets my vote. The lad did nothing special, but he was there, day in, day out, scored a couple of handy goals, and filled in at right back, well done Keith

Durks said: “Considering our midfield was terrible this season I can’t give my vote to someone who was an ever present in that poor midfield (Andrews). I’m gonna go for sentimentality and give Tugay the vote cos he is a class act.

FreidelNo.1 said: “Tough one – I’m going for Warnock – as when he was in mid-field he was superb and scored goals.

JuanFranDeLaHuego said: “Honourable mention to Andrews as he always gave his all (even if that wasn’t always enough) and I’d love to be able to vote Tugay. It may be controversial but I’ll go with Diouf. Fast, skilful and everyone else hates him. If only he’d put the effort in every week.

Blue_Canoe said: “Warnock for me here. Visionary move by Ince to put him in midfield, roundly criticised by everybody for doing it, but proved correct.

rover23 said: “Andrews for me.. the surprise package.. did the hard work in the midfield… and without him we would have struggled… Special mention to Tugay and Stevie Warnock who both did well…

Thanks for voting on this, PLEASE KEEP your votes coming in for these other Awards, as there is STILL time to vote so click here for the list of categories and vote on the one(s) you want!
