Mixed Feelings On Fulham Draw

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes was pleased with the point that we picked up in the 2-2 draw with Fulham on Sunday but he also feels we could have got all three.

Rovers fell behind to Danny Murphy’s second half penalty, but equalised through Brett Emerton, soon Fulham were ahead again through Diomansy Kamara’s controversial goal. However, Rovers were not to be denied and got the equaliser that the efforts deserved when finally they were able to beat Antti Niemi again (after he pulled off a string of superb saves) when Stephen Warnock levelled in the final ten minutes. This left Hughes pleased with the point, but he still feels we could have got more.

Hughes told Sky Sports after the match: “I thought we kept on playing and trying to do the right things and we got our reward it the end.

“We thought it was a game we should have won and I think we totally dominated. In general play we were the most progressive team.

“On another day we would have won the game
.”

However, Sparky was less than impressed with Fulham’s second as Kamara was clearly offside in the build-up to his goal, yet he was not seen to be interfering with play!!!

Sparky added: “The second goal – when the initial ball was passed forward – the lad who scored was in an offside position.

“In days gone by, when I played, that was stonewall offside but these days, with different phases and interference it becomes a lottery and that is the worry.

“It is not easy for officials, in fairness, and it has hurt us today
.”
