Experienced Elliott Ward has left Blackburn to join League One rival MK Dons on loan.

The defender, who has made 15 appearances under Tony Mowbray this season, has been drafted in by the relegation threatened side until the end of the season, adding a wealth of experience to Dan Micciche’s squad, which can only help them in their battle to remain in the division.

Ward, 33, would have hoped to battle in the Blackburn side looking to return to the Championship but it wasn’t to be for the former Bournemouth defender, signed from the Cherries in 2016.

In total Ward has made 30 appearances for Blackburn, scoring once – he’ll not be eligible for MK Dons when Rovers travel to his new club on Monday 2nd April.

There’s no doubting Ward’s experience wouldn’t have done us any harm between now and the remainder of the season. However, if the defender wasn’t going to get the amount of first team football he would have wanted it was best for all concerned he moved on.

Best of luck to him at the Stadium MK.
