You’ll not find many who haven’t been impressed by Adam Armstrong since he came to Blackburn. The on-loan Newcastle forwards goalscoring exploits, especially in recent weeks, speak for themselves.
Goals win games and his seven in as many games have gone a major way towards securing victories in many of these fixtures, but as much as Armstrong is delighted to be among the goals, feeling great personally, he’s made it clear Rovers collecting the points is the most important thing.
He told the Official Website: ‘I feel great and have seven goals in seven games, which is alright. The main thing is the team winning.’
Armstrong’s modesty continued as he played down the quality of the first of his brace against Blackpool, which opened up a two-nil lead at the time. He curled an effort past Tangerines goalkeeper Joe Lumley and into the top corner, but he’s not bigging it up too much, again stressing the end-game is all that matters.
‘When Bradley set it back, I thought I`d hit it in the top corner and thankfully it went in the back of the net. We`re another step closer now. The main thing is to keep getting wins on the board,’ added Armstrong.
If Armstrong, 21, continues his rich vein of goalscoring form then Blackburn’s Championship return will be confirmed sooner rather than later.
We’ve already spoken this week about the fact the forward is on fire and how him staying at Ewood Park into next season would be a good thing, but once promotion is done and dusted, which I’m confident without being arrogant will be secured, we’ll be able to look into the prospect of Armstrong potentially having a future with Rovers?
